Specific Professions/ Careers/ Occupations for Graduates of BS Environmental Planning, after meeting the required qualifications as per Section 5.4 of CHED MEMORANDUM ORDER (CMO) No. Series of 2017
(a) In general, the scope of the practice of Environmental Planning includes the following:
(a. I) Technical consultation, technical advice, plan preparation, capacity building, monitoring/ evaluation of implementation of:
National/ regional/ metropolitan/local development and/or physical framework plans, developmentoriented codes and related national development controls;
Zoning ordinances (ZOs) and derivative regulations (DRS), and other related local development controls (DCs), including comprehensive land, water and air use plans (CLWAUPs) or comprehensive land use plans (CLUPs);
Planning/ development of barangay/ area/ community/ district/ municipality/ city/ metropolitan area/ province/ local region/ local super-region/ national/ international region; and
Master site development for planned unit development/PUD, residential/housing/resettlement/ relocation, institutional, commercial district/ business park, open space/ recreation, entertainment, tourism, ecological zones, industrial estates, transportationoriented development (TOD), land reclamation, redevelopment/ renewal/ adaptive reuse, agricultural/ food production, forest, coastal area/ inland waterways/ basins/ reservoirs, mining/ extraction, military/ defense, detention/ correctional facility, mixed use development (MXD), conservation/ protected/ buffer area, archaeological/ historical/ cultural area, ancestral domain, municipal/ city waters, aerodromes, the public domain, and the like.
(a.2) Preparation of studies in relation to the above-mentioned activities:
• Pre-feasibility/ feasibility;
• Environmental assessments/ investigations/ analyses;
Comprehensive Land, Air & Water Use Plans (CLWAUPs) or comprehensive land use plans (CLUPs), which may or may not encompass subsurface resources
such as water and minerals or of planning for the beneficial use of municipal water areas (MWAs, also known as city water areas/CWAs, as applicable);
• Framework/ Conceptual/ Preliminary Land Use Plans
(FrP/ CoLUP/ PLUP);
• Conceptual/ Preliminary/ Detailed Master Development
Plans (CMDP/ PMDP/ DMDP);
• Institutional/ administration/ legal systems;
• Local, metropolitan, regional, national and international physical planning and building regimes/ laws/ regulations (development controls); and
• Local and international professional planning practices
(a.3) Specific professions/ careers/ opportunities occupations for graduates
• Policy assessment;
• City/town/urban/human settlements planning;
• Area development/redevelopment and physical planning (including master site development plans for all types of subdivisions/estate development, new settlement paradigms, such as master site development planning for eco-villages, retirement villages, waterfront developments, eco-tourism projects/programs, TODs, heritage conservation efforts, ancestral domains, etc.);
• Sectoral planning (e.g. social development, transportation, infrastructure, institutional-administrativelegal-political, land use, environmental, tourism, etc.);
• Planning instruction, teaching of environmental planning subjects, including continuing professional development (CPD) courses;
• Research and development (R&D) and capacity building;
• Politics (local or national)/and governance; and
• General consulting (local, national and international).
